thank you

Thank you to the invaluable teachers, counselors, administrators and other staff who work tirelessly to connect students to Summer Search and support them throughout their participation.  We could not do this without you!

demographic criteria

AGE – at the time of enrollment, candidates are high school sophomores, aged 17 or less

INCOME – candidates should qualify for free or reduced price school lunch

IMMIGRATION STATUS – candidates are documented or are on a clear path in the documentation process.

Summer Search selects students based on three core characteristics: REFLECTION, ALTRUISM, and PERFORMANCE potential.  We call this our RAP model.

REFLECTION – We look for students who can be introspective, and are open to examining and changing their behavior and future.

ALTRUISM – We look for students who are empathetic and share care for others: the kids who volunteer to help and show gratitude.

PERFORMANCE – We look for students who show that they can work hard to achieve their goals.  We want to see students who show sustained motivation to follow through in some area of their lives – this could be in schoolwork, out-of-school activities, student leadership, or by taking an important family role.
