Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation:
2010 Summer Research Internships – Clinical CardiologyMinneapolis Heart Institute Foundation offers summer research internship opportunities for undergraduate students studying pre-med or other health care disciplines in an accredited degree program. Internships are designed to give students professional experience in the areas of research and cardiovascular health care.
Internships are full-time, 10-12 weeks in duration, and offer a stipend of $8 per hour and paid parking. All internships take place on the campus of Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN.Out-of-state participants in the 2009 program were able to sublet apartments near the University of Minnesota and reported the short-term relocation as being very worthwhile. Weregard diversity in the internship program as an important factor in providing a rich learning environment for participants.
Feedback from 2009 interns: (1) “I would absolutely recommend this program to others. I doubt there is a program like it where the pre-medical students get such incredible access to the physicians of a hospital and get to observe all the things that go on in the cardiovascular diagnostics and inpatient areas. The learning is incredible, but one of the other great things is the sense of how research is conducted that you can take from the experience.” (2) “This internship has been a great experience and I would strongly recommend it to others. Through my employment at MHI, I have learned so much about cardiology, clinical research, and the medical profession in general.”
For more information, visit www.mplsheart.org/internship. Applications must be submitted by the deadline of February 7th for consideration.
