Summer Search Seattle Update
by Mia Ellis, Executive Director
As you know, we are growing and growing and growing! This spring, Summer Search Seattle was an amazing 93 students strong. Can you believe it?!? 34 sophomores and 30 juniors will be going on summer trips this year and 29 graduates are getting ready for college. With all of this growth in students, comes growth in staff. In addition to our current staff (Mia, Amy, Jennifer, Eliza and Rebecca), we have hired two new mentors, Alex and Helen, and a staff member, Sarah, to help with fundraising. Stop by to say hi and meet them whenever you get a chance. It’s a very exciting time at Summer Search Seattle and we are incredibly proud of YOU -- our Alumni -- all 55 of you!
Summer Search Update
by Nicola Twilley, Director of Marketing & Communications
Across the organization, Summer Search is sending 735 first and second-year students away on summer programs (compared to 538 last year)! In addition to long-time summer program partners like Outward Bound, Amigos, NOLS, and AFS, we’re excited to announce first-time partnerships with programs Farm and Wilderness Questers in Vermont, Plantation Farm Camp in California, and Cheley Camp in Colorado.
A huge welcome to our newest alumni: there are 205 Summer Searchers across the country in the Class of 2008! 199 are going on to college (in line with our historical 97% college attendance rate), including Dickinson, Brandeis, UC Berkeley, Occidental, Whitman and Cornell. If you’re a sophomore, junior or senior in college, keep your contact details updated and consider reaching out to new freshman through the alumni online community: you can be a great resource and role model. If you’re a freshman, make sure to activate your account so you can reach out to older alumni at your college for support.
