Summer Search New York City held its 8th Annual Young Leadership Cocktail on October 4, 2011 at Hudson Terrace. With over 300 attendees, the event raised over $130,000!

Summer Search’s 8th Annual Young Leadership Cocktail Event was held Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Hudson Terrace in New York City. The event was hosted by Summer Search’s Young Leadership Committee - a group of twenty-five young professionals from prestigious companies such as General Atlantic, KPMG, Morgan Stanley-Smith Barney and Citi - who share Summer Search’s commitment to leadership development for youth living in New York City’s most underserved communities.
Thanks to the 300 people in attendance, Summer Search NYC was able to raise $130,000 which will be allocated towards providing this life-changing program to more deserving young people. The Summer Search program includes full scholarships to summer experiential education programs, individualized access to college and financial aid counseling, and a lasting support network, including access to professional development skill-building for alumni.
This year, over 160 New York City high school students and 165 Alumni have benefited from Summer Search’s programs. Over the past eight years, Summer Search has established itself as one of the City’s most impactful programs. Since Summer Search New York City was founded in 2003, 99.5% of students have graduated high school, 95% of these students went on to post-secondary education and 85% have completed college or are on track to do so. Summer Search’s most recent class of graduating seniors earned over 1 million dollars in financial aid!
The lead sponsors for this event were Dinosaur Bar-B-Que and St. Germain and our VIP reception sponsors Casa Nono, Beecher's Handmade Cheese, The Nutbox and Fat Witch Bakery. We are deeply grateful for their commitment to our mission to find resilient low-income high school students and inspire them to become responsible and altruistic leaders.
