We’ve seen that with the right support and opportunities, students from low-income backgrounds can earn a college degree and change the face of leadership in our communities.

We serve students who have the desire and potential to graduate college, but who may not be able to due to under-resourced environments and oppressive systems that promote negative attitudes and beliefs about themselves and their belonging in an academic environment.

Through a combination of mentoring, experiential opportunities, college advising, and support, Summer Search students strengthen the skills they need to thrive in school and in life.

It’s a long-term investment. And it works.

Our Impact:

85%

of most recent graduating senior class matriculated to college

85%

of our college students re-enrolled this past year

69%

of most recent classes of college students earned a 4-year college degree within six years (compared to 21% of their peers)

And it ripples out. A college degree increases lifetime earnings by about $1 million (vs. high school degree). So Summer Searchers are not only becoming college graduates and socially responsible leaders, but they’re also passing on their educational advantage to the next generation.
